Course Description

Introduces the applications and approaches to the study of political science. Demonstrates the applications and  approaches using examples from comparative politics, international relations, public administration, political  behavior, political theory, and other sub-fields of the discipline.  

Learning Objectives

1. Understand the core concepts and theories in political science, including comparative politics, international relations, public administration, political behavior, and political theory.

2. Analyze the applications and approaches to the study of political science using examples from various sub-fields.

3. Develop critical thinking and analytical skills to apply to real-life situations, including understanding the US political system and government.

4. Evaluate and compare political systems and governments across different countries and regions.

5. Apply political science theories and concepts to current events and political issues in the US and globally.

6. Develop effective communication skills through class discussions and written assignments.

7. Demonstrate proficiency in using American Government as a primary resource for learning about the US political system and government.
